Don Martin acquired the name Moog Music Inc. when the trademark had elapsed. He started a new Moog Music company and made many Moog modules. He also made Minimoog D clones. He used double sided PCBs with edge fingers on both sides for the modules which improved reliability.
Don wasn't an experienced engineer or businessman. He defaulted on goods and services he bought on credit. He was understaffed, deliveries slowed, and customers grew impatient and critical. Per a posting by Kevin Lightner 5/31/2023, "For example, while he engineered his own Model D Mini, several key issues of the Mini had problems. I used to have a web page up comparing a real Mini to a "DoniMoog." He got about 95% of it right, but failed in pulling it off perfectly."
Bob Moog wanted to reacquire his company name, filed a lawsuit and won, which was the final straw for Don Martin Moog Music.
